Dear Family and Friends,
Wednesday: P-day and we were able to go to the temple this morning. That was awesome. Played basketball for a little then moved some of our stuff to live in the other Elders apartment for a week.
Thursday: Well today we pretty much just found the whole day.
Friday: Assisted living service this morning. Talked with by boy Cliff. He's a cool dude. Then weekly planned for a little. Taught Daisy, then went to Motel 6. Rapped with Daisy s kids for a little. Always a fun place to be.
Saturday: Helped a member move this morning. Got some Little Ceasers pizza for lunch thanks to Brother Udall. Went finding in the Villas for a little bit and found a nice lady who told us we could come back. Walked to Stratford Ridge or "Scratford" Ridge as the locals call it. Picked up Keemon (our team up) grabbed some "rap snacks" yes, they're a real thing. Haha We had a lesson with Daisy tonight so we picked up Keemon so we could teach her inside. So we walked all the way to her place just to find out that she's asleep... Haha what can ya do? Walked back and saw 2 police cars fly passed us. Typical for the area and had to run back to our apartment to grab my companions suit because he forgot it when we moved over here.
Sunday: Knocked quite a bit today. HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY. We rolled up on an actual music video! There was rap music in the background and they were filming it in our apartment complex haha. They let us take pictures with them and talk about the Book of Mormon. It was pretty sweet.
Monday: Had some brunch over at Bishop Foye’s house. Taught the Britos this morning. Went back to just a regular companionship. Went finding in the Villas and found a potential new investigator! Walked to the town homes and it was about this time that the thought came into mind... "Those are some dark rain clouds... Maybe we should start biking back" but for whatever reason we chose to stay and knock more doors. Met some cool people and passed out cards. We then called the Portuguese Elders to see if they could give us a ride back.. They say "yes, we'll be there in one minute" so at this point it starts to sprinkle and I'm thinkin "no worries, they'll be here soon"... 35 minutes later they show up.. During those 35 minutes. Almost 2 inches of rain had fallen.. Which is a lot. In 35 min. We were soaked! One cool guy asked if we needed a ride and we declined thinking our ride was on its way haha. Had some fun with it though. Got changed and had some dinner and tracted for a bit. Met some nice people and called it a night.
So, what has Elder Trendler been learning lately? I've learned that excuses and rationalization are Satan’s tools. From the littlest things to the most severe sins. A lot of the time it starts with rationalization. It keeps us from getting better. I've leaned to start putting excuses away and just do it. It's really helped me a lot. Change can happen! Let it happen.
